INTERNET SECURITY ALLIANCE CONTINUES TO GROW
The Internet Security Alliance (ISAlliance) today announced substantial growth both financially and in membership. ISAlliance President Larry Clinton says the continued growth of the ISA is due to its unique structure and the increasingly pressing need for corporations to shore up their information security systems to cope with an "expanding and ever more sophisticated threat."
"The reason we don't hear about large scale attacks much any more is not because the attackers have gone away. Today's corporate systems are being attacked by designer malware built to invade a specific companies system and do so without being noticed. Criminals using mechanisms readily for sale on the Internet are stealing corporate data, intellectual property and conducting espionage and engaging in information security related extortion," Clinton said.
Today ISAlliance announced a financial agreement to provide services to four leading trade associations: The Electronic Components, Assemblies & Materials Association (ECA); the Government Electronics and Information Technology Association (GEIA); the JEDEC Solid State Technology Association (JEDEC); and the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA).
ISAlliance Board Chairman, Ken Silva, Chief Security Officer at VeriSign was equally delighted. "VeriSign was a founding sponsor of ISA five years ago when we had just seven companies. Over the past few years we have added literally hundreds of new members, and the deal with these associations will double our footprint while improving our already sound finances, Silva said."
Ty R. Sagalow , President of AIG Product Development, General Insurance, who serves as ISA Vice Chair noted in reference to the ISA's support of the use of market based incentives : " For several years, ISA has been known as a powerful and effective advocate of the use of market based incentives as a means to foster network security best practices. The continued growth of ISA as announced today will only add to its success in this area."
Mike Hickey Verizon VP for Government Affairs, National Security Policy, who also serves as an ISA Vice Chair, said the enhanced finances would help fund both new and ongoing projects for ISA. "Just this year ISA initiated a program that addresses security challenges created by the globalization of the IT supply chain, as well as new member educational services for compliance with legal and industry standards requirements. ISA is committed to keeping pace with emerging information security challenges." Hickey said.
